A new farmers market opened at the Alexandra Park Raceway in the centre of Auckland in September.
The Auckland Farmers Market Plus is under cover in the “ultra-modern” stables area said market organiser Barry O’Connor.
The market features products, produce, arts, crafts, and other things sourced from North Cape to Katikati and new vendors are still being accepted.
Organisers want the Auckland Farmers Market Plus to play a similar role in Auckland life to the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne
"It will take time but that's the fun of it and the more support we get the better the market will become, and the better the market becomes the more support we will get."
The market, on Sundays from 10am-4pm, has access to hundreds of car parks and a 100 metres of space for stalls. Besides fresh fruit and veges, the range includes art, crafts, clothing and jewellery.
"We are very keen to showcase the best of New Zealand and provide a strong commercial platform for growers,” said Mr O'Connor.
