New Zealand is host to a growing number of organic festivals and events where businesses can showcase their wares to a local and international audiences and people can sample what's on offer, make connections and indulge in fun and food.

The Eco Show, held in Auckland at the end of February, aims to point the way to where the world is headed in sustainable lifestyles. The show is a reflection of the world's growing eco awareness with exhibitions demonstrating sustainable services and products and real examples of sustainable life style, businesses, homes, community initiatives, building methods, energy sources, farms, food production and more. International speakers address topics on sustainable and renewable solutions to all aspects of human life and live discussions take place in the Eco Forum.

The New Zealand Organic Food and Wine Festival is held in Oamaru in March each year. The festival features organic food, organic wine and beer along with education, entertainment, arts and crafts. Oamaru is the Australasian capital of Victorian architecture and espouses the renaissance of the arts and crafts movement. It is home to both the yellow-eyed and little blue penguin and is a 20 minute drive to geological sites, the Moeraki Bolders and the Vanishing World Fossil Trail.

The Organic River Festival - a weekend of organic lifestyle, entertainment, inspiration and relaxation - takes place in an idyllic rural setting surrounded by native trees and flanked by a river. The festival features safe swimming holes, camping, alternative new sustainable technology, entertainment stages, workshops, the arts, quality stalls, an organic wine, beer and food marquee and continuous live music.

Organisers, the Eco Fest Educational Charitable Trust, say the festival is a place to relax, chill-out, recharge and check out the latest in alternatives, spirituality & organics. They invite festival attendees to swim and sunbathe, walk in the forest, visit the health and spirit marquee and listen to the 30 hours of music provided on two stages.
