Could you please tell me why biological control is a contemporary issue in NZ?
It has become increasingly apparent that even in this clean green land of ours the use of pesticides has been shown scientifically to be detrimental to the health of the environment.
On a world basis the indications have been even more horrific and have resulted in the rise of Organic Certified Foods as the power of the people has come into play at an economic level of the market place.
The result has been a rapid increase of environmentally clean technology such as Biological control techniques as scientists attempt to sanitise existing non sustainable systems.
Of course the even more contemporary interest in genetic engineering is now becoming a more exciting means of sanitising as far as scientists are concerned and we can expect most research funding to now go in that direction.
UNLESS of course the Power of the people is brought into play at the market place.
