We live on a small holding in Northland and have a fly strike problem with the few head of sheep we run. We've built flytraps out of old plastic bottles but I would be grateful for advice on what kind of bait would be most effective.
Fly traps are an excellent way to go, BUT general management and
health of the livestock is important.
This applies to pasture composition and health, grazing management and
general stress management of the stock.
By far the expert on this aspect in Northland would be JOHN PEARCE
on the South Kaipara Heads .You should take time out to visit with this
remarkable man and his 500ha Certified Organic and Bio-dynamic farm.
