Composting Rhubarb, Flax and Lavender Is it safe to compost, rhubarb leaves, flax or lavender flowers?

You can compost all three materials safely, provided aeration is good and a high temperature (over 60°C) is maintained for some weeks. Flax, however will take a long time, up to 2 years and is best left rotting on its own.
