Thank-you.
Hannah
Question 2: We are very interested in farming (cattle & sheep) organically. Please
could you tell me where can I find information on alternative drenches,
fertilizers etc.
Reference Books: 1. Natural Remedies / Juliette Baraidi Levy 2. Grasp the Nettle / Biodynamic Farming and Gardening Assn 3. Farming Naturally and Organic Animal Care / Pat Coleby
Cattle would be less problem: Red Poll, Angus, Devon
Sheep: Texel - worm tolerant Perendale - worm resistant German White Headed Marsh - Ian Ewen Street’s preferred breed
Animal Health always comes first. Don’t sacrifice an animal for organic principles. If an animal is sick and cannot be healed organically, don’t let it suffer just because you want to be 100 per cent organic - conventional treatments should be used then
Be prepared to have a lower stock rate and keep a sick animal paddock that has high herbal content
Pasture should contain a good herbal ley
Drench recipes are found in Grasp the Nettle
