Spittle Bug HELP!!! We live on 10 acres in Queenstown. We have a huge garden that has been invaded by spittle bug! They are through all of the garden, flower beds, vege garden and more keep appearing! Would love to know what to do!
The nymphs of the spittle bug are hidden within the white frothy patches, "blowing" air into plant juice. It looks worse than it actually is. The insects usually do little damage. Encourage naturally occurring parasitic wasps by having phacelia and other insectary plants flowering around affected plants. Hosing down the froth repeatedly is usually enough to keep the numbers down.
