Pollinating, plants which attract bees, etc
Since moving into our home which is on a 1021 square metre section we have decided to make the most of the land by planting fruit trees and a vege garden. So as not to have to hand pollinate, what can we plant to encourage the bees and other pollinators in?

Good nectar and pollen plants (sources for nectar [N] and pollen [P]  - have some for every time of year:

 June-September

Cootamundra wattle - Acacia baileyana (P)

Five finger - Pseudopanax arboreus (NP)

Kowhai - Sophora spp. (NP)

Rosemary - Rosmarinus spp. (NP)

Tree lucerne/ tagasaste - Chamaecytisus palmensis (NP)

 

October-November

Sycamore - Acer pseudoplatanus (NP)

Karaka - Corynocarpus laevigatus (NP)

karo, lemonwood, kohuhu - Pittosporum spp. (NP

Buddleia - Buddleia salvifolia

 

December-March

Mahoe - Melicytus ramiflorus (NP)

Southern rata - Metrosideros umbellata (NP)

Manuka - Leptospermium scoparium (NP)

Clover - Trifolium spp. (NP)

 

April-May
