Tyres, growing in What do your think about growing veges such as potatoes, tomatoes and capsicums in old car tyres. Are they laden with all sorts of horrible metals etc or is it okay for the family gardener?

We couldn't find a lot of info re toxicity and leaching from old car tyres. I somewhat feel it's still better than treated timber. Some students have grown wonderful tomatoes in car tyres.
